This Weekend and the Big Boy Bed

This weekend we enjoyed staying around the house watching football and playing outside.  We also put together Jackson's big boy bed.  His bed is part of the set of bunk beds my brother and I slept on when we were younger.  Thanks to Nanny Toot for the mattress.  He has slept great in the bed so far.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend we traveled to Brevard, North Caroline with Nanny Toot and David.  We went up to enjoy the beautiful mountains and to visit with Bro. David and Eloise.  We had an awesome weekend.  We visited some of the local waterfalls, had lunch at the top of one of the mountains, explored O.P. Taylor's toy store, relaxed and played at the house, visited with everyone - Bro. David, Eloise, David, Beth, Bennett, and Leah Grace, we went to church at Bro. David's church, and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery.  A side note:  on the day we were to leave, we were out packing the car and Jackson shut the back door to the house and of course it was locked.  For a few minutes we all thought we were locked out and Jackson was locked in.  Thankfully one of the sliding glass doors had not been locked so we were able to get back in the house.  Jackson enjoyed the trip and had so much fun running through the house and playing outside.

When I Came Home from Work....

When I came home from work on Tuesday, August 30, I found my two boys napping.  I could not resist taking a picture.  While I was at work, Ray took the time to take down Jackson's crib so we could move on to the next stage.  Jackson hasn't been sleeping in his crib since the beginning of summer.  So, we decided to take it down and put it away.

Playtime

Just a few pictures of Jack enjoying a day with Nanny Toot.  He loves books.  At her house he goes over and moves the bar stool and the magazine basket out away from his "spot" where he sits to look at books.  He has learned to put things back in his toy bucket or drawers or cabinets.  It seems like he learns something new everyday!  He is growing up so fast!

Mother's Day Out

Jackson's first day at mother's day out was today.  He got to stay about 2 hours.  Nanny Toot dropped him off this morning and sent some pictures to me at work.  She said he went right in and started playing.  She told me when she picked him up he was playing.  He fell asleep in the car before she could get a couple of miles down the road.  I guess that means he played hard this morning!  Here are a few pictures from this morning.

Weekend Fun

This weekend we stayed around the house and tried to catch up on on the chores we missed out on during the week.  Jackson enjoyed playing in his pool in the backyard, running around in the front yard, creating chaos in his upstairs and downstairs playrooms, going to church, and doing all the things that he enjoys.  We discovered one new tooth in the back on the bottom and two teeth still trying so hard to come in on the top.  Jackson is also having trouble sleeping in his crib.  So, we have decided to let him sleep in our room on his little air mattress for a while to see if we can work out of this stage.  On Saturday, he refused to take a nap so during dinner he fell asleep in his high chair.  I don't think I have ever laughed so hard.  When we got home from church on Sunday, we changed Jackson's clothes and he wore an old shirt of mine around the house all day.  It was a t-shirt that my Uncle David gave me when I was Jackson's age and it has Uncle David's high school football number on it.  It was kind of funny seeing Jackson wearing it.  I am glad that my mom saved it for me to share with him.

Our Growing Boy is 15 Months Old!!

Jackson is a growing boy (as you can see from his pictures)!  We had our 15 month check up with Dr. B during the first week of the month.  He weighs 29 lbs. and is 33 inches tall!!!  All in the 97th percentile for his age.

What we are up to these day:
  • Loves Cheerios!
  • Has learned to climb the stairs - now we have to teach him to come down the stairs without any accidents!
  • Has almost outgrown his shoes (size 5s).
  • Loves water - doesn't matter if it is the bathtub or the pool.
  • Very, very observant!  He doesn't miss anything.  No matter how hard you try to sneak something past him, he will catch it.
  • We have had our first toilet "casualty" - he put a horse flashlight in the toilet - needless to say it ended up in the garbage.
  • Has learned to crawl down off the bed.
  • Still saying MaMa and DaDa.  No new words.
  • Has a temper when things don't go his way!!!
  • Loves anything that makes noise!  The louder, the better!!!

Beach Fun in July

We went to Watersound Beach to visit Uncle David, Aunt Kathleen, and Sara for couple of days in July (17-20).  We had so much fun.  We went down to the beach everyday and we spent one evening at Seaside looking in all the shops and eating pizza.  Jackson had so much fun.  On the way home, we stopped and visited with Jackson's Great-Great Aunt Brunize.  It was the first time he had gotten to see her.  He enjoyed running through her house, laughing, and opening/closing her cabinet doors.  We had an awesome visit with everyone.

Fourth of July Weekend

We spent the Fourth of July in Atmore.  Jackson and I went to Gulf Shores to visit with Uncle Rex, Aunt Glyn, Jodie, Drew, Rob, Danna, and Bert.  Jackson had so much fun "doing bad things" with Uncle Rex.  While in Atmore, Jackson go to play in the pool at Nana's with Queenie.

Where Did it All Go?

Where in the world did the month of July go?!?!  We have been so busy that time has flown by so fast my head is spinning.  We spent the Fourth of July in Atmore.  Jackson and I took a day trip over to Gulf Shores to see Uncle Rex and Aunt Glyn.  We spent several days of the month in Atmore visiting.  We also made a trip to Watersound Beach to spend several days with Uncle David, Aunt Kathleen and Sara.  All the days in between we have spent at home running errands, doing chores, and swimming in the pool.

What is Jackson up to these days?
  •  He has learned what the words juice, Cheerios, Queenie, no, and go in the car mean.  He gets so excited when we ask if he wants juice or Cheerios.  He goes to the pantry door for Cheerios and kitchen for juice.  When we say something about Queenie, he will start squealing and go to our bedroom (since that is where she hangs out about 99% of the time).  He shares his Cheerios with her also.
  • He is a world class traveler.  We have probably traveled a little over 3,000 miles since the start of the summer.  He does great in the car.
  • One of his favorite places to play is in the kitchen - near the Tupperware and pots/pans.  The more noise he can make the better.
  • He is eating mostly table food now.  I have to grind it up in the grinder because he still only has 4 teeth - 2 on top and 2 on bottom in the front.  However, we can see some trying to come through.
  • He moved up to a number 5 diaper and is still wearing 18 to 24 month clothes - mostly 24 months and some 2Ts.
  • He isn't sleeping through the night anymore.  He is getting up 3 and 4 times a night.
  • He LOVES the water.  He has enjoyed all trip to the pool, his backyard pool, and the ocean.  He gets so excited.  And bath time is so much fun!!
