Around the House Summer 2012

Here are some pictures from around the house -

First Day of Mother's Day Out

The first day of Mother's Day Out was August 9.

Beach Trip to Watersound!

The week of July 25 we traveled to Watersound beach to stay at Uncle David's beach house.  We had so much fun.  We also had a house full of people and got to spend lots of time visiting and playing.  We had Nana, Papa, Mary Kay, Mason, Uncle David, Granny, Granddaddy, Uncle Sandy, and Aunt Joretta.  We played at the beach, went to Seaside and walked around, ate at the Red Bar, and rode on the golf cart.  It was a beautiful week and we really enjoyed our vacation!  On the way to the beach, we stopped in Opp and visited with Aunt Brunize and took her lunch.

Trip to the SplashPad

On July 17 we went to the local splashpad with our friends, Ms. Laura, Claire, and Mary Caroline.  Jackson had a great time following the girls around and playing in the water.

Trip to Scottsboro

July 10-12:  We traveled to Scottsboro to visit Cousin Jodie, Drew and Ralphie.  Jackson has so much fun playing with Ralphie and sharing his goldfish.  We went out and did a little shopping and visited to the local splash pad.  We had so much fun just hanging out.  It rained the whole time we were visiting but that didn't stop us from having fun!

Beach Trip in June

Towards the end of June we took a trip to Orange Beach for a week.  Jackson absolutely loved the pool and really enjoyed playing and the change of scenery.  We took the trip with mother, Joyce, MK, and Mason.  Tyler's girlfriend Ashley and her mom spent a night with us.  And one of the days we were there, Donna Sue and her daughter Julie and son Jack came to spend the day with us.  While we were there we went out to eat at several restaurants and visited the Naval Museum in Pensacola.

Stone Mountain Trip in June

To begin our summer fun, we took a weekend trip in June to Stone Mountain Georgia to spend a few days with our friends, the Varneys and Lavenders.  When my family moved to Lake Wales, Florida in 1984/85 I met Brandy in school.  We became friends and soon discovered we lived on two or three blocks from each other.  We enjoyed hanging out and became really good friends.  After living in Lake Wales for 18 months we moved back to the Atmore area.  Brandy and I wrote letters to each other until we graduated from high school.  We lost touch for a little while but soon got back in touch with one another.  We don't get to visit each other because of work and distance like we would want to so we get together when we have a chance.  Our trip to Stone Mountain gave us that opportunity.  We met up with them and stayed at the Stone Mountain Inn and we have three adjoining rooms which Jackson was very amused by.  Brandy's mom and brother along with his girlfriend were able to come as well.  We had so much fun catching up on old times and laughing.  It doesn't take very much to entertain any of us.  As long as we can sit and visit, we have the best time together.  Jackson enjoyed getting to know everyone and playing with their son Cole.  I hope and pray that there will be more opportunities like this to spend time with one of my favorite families.  It just goes to prove that time and distance don't have to separate friends and their families.

Memorial Day Weekend Camping Trip

We spent the weekend on a camping trip at Styx River in Baldwin County for Memorial Day.  Jackson had a great time and the water was perfect for him to play and enjoy each day.

Turning 2...

Jackson had a great turn out for his birthday party.  His friends Jameson, Will, Daniel, and Lily came to play and eat cake.  At the party we had sandwich food for lunch and cake.  Jackson and his friends played with blocks, jumped on the trampoline, and make a puppet.  He had a wonderful time and are so thankful for such a great group of family and friends.

The day before his birthday party was Jackson's actual birthday.  He got a haircut from Wez (she drives all the way from North Carolina to cut his hair), we decorated for the party, and we went to the Guadalajara for dinner and cupcakes.  The weekend of Jackson's party we had 11 people spending the night at our house (which is the most we have ever had at one time).  Jackson had a wonderful time playing and visiting with everyone.

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Jackson is 2 today!  Where in the world did the time go?  He is changing so much each day.  He does something or says something new almost every second of the day.  We have a weekend of celebrating ahead of us.  I can't want to share pictures!!!  I woke up this morning recalling the events of the day he was born two years ago.  Wow!  It doesn't seem like two years!!

Two stories that must be recorded to use at a later date!!!

We were at his friend, Daniel's birthday party last weekend and Jackson had so much fun playing with his toys that while Daniel was opening gifts, Jackson was hanging out in his room.  I found myself watching the other kids during the gift opening and soon realized that Jackson had come running past me and went into their kitchen.  He quickly came back out carrying a dish towel.  I followed him into Daniel's room and he was wiping up a very small spot of something he found on the floor.  On another occasion, we were at home and Jackson got a few drops of milk on his table.  He went into the kitchen got a dish towel out, slammed the drawer shut, went over to the table and wiped the milk up, went back into the kitchen and returned the dish towel to the drawer, and slammed it shut.  We laughed and laughed!

Another story is when Ray was giving Jackson a bath on two occasions and Jackson ended up standing in the tub after the water ran out screaming bloody murder.  We thought something was terribly wrong based on the sound of his scream.  There was something wrong alright!!!  He had poo pooped in the tub and was trying to get away from "it".  We laughed and laughed again.
