Not a very exciting post today but worth remembering in the future. Well, another doctor visit for Jack and me yesterday. Just routine of course. The doctor came in and she usually asks how everything is going and if I have any questions. That is our normal routine. Well, this visit began with her entering the room and saying, "Well, how about that nice fever blister you have there?" I replied to her, "Aren't I the lucky one?" So, she proceeds with the routine and asks, "Do you have any questions?" And my response was a little out of the ordinary. I replied, "Yes, can you do something about this?" as I pointed to the fever blister. We had some laughs and moved on to another topic. I got to hear Jack's heartbeat again, which to me is the coolest part of all the doctor visits. The next doctor visit will be to test my sugar which is routine.
Today will be a Jack's first snow day. I am sitting at work waiting to go home early today and watching a few flurries fall from the sky. I am hoping there will be enough to make just a nice blanket of snow but I am afraid it is going to get rather messy for those travelling through the area. I will post some pictures of the coming snow a little later.
Still no nursery theme, no decisions made about furniture, and of course no final decisions about names. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. :)

Jack's Nursery and Christmas Gifts!
Over the weekend, we spent quite a bit of time working around the house and the nursery is well underway. I think some people would say that we have gone to the extreme with adding a room onto the house but I was not up for the idea of walking up and down the stairs in our house during the wee hours of the morning. The nursery was added the week prior to Christmas. Once Jack is older, we will move him to one of the upstairs rooms and turn the added room into a sunroom or sitting room.
Everyone keeps asking, what colors are you going to use?, where are you going to buy furniture?, what is your theme going to be?, and the list goes on and on. We are taking everything one day at a time.
So, in this posting I have included several pictures of the nursery in progress as well as gifts that have been given to us over the past month or so, especially here at Christmas. In the pictures I didn't include the HUGE box of clothes that I received today from my friend, Beth in North Carolina that have been worn by her son Bennett...so many cute things!!! Thank you so much Beth!!

Starting the New Year and Answering the Question, "Who is Jack?"
So, to the right is our little one, the one we refer to as Jack. Why the name Jack? Well, it started out as a joke from a friend of mine at work back at the end of summer. She came to me and said that she had had a dream that she had a baby boy and was so upset because she was too old to raise another child. So, she gave the baby to me to raise and named him Jack. That is how the name came about. We have laughed about it since that time. It became even funnier when we discovered we were having a boy. So, the name has become a part of our daily lives for the little one growing inside of me.
On a different note, the name Jack also has sentimental meaning to my family. Jack Bennett was a cousin of my granny and a part of my life for almost 17 years...until he went to be with the Lord near Christmas of 1995. I still remember my cousin saying to his mom, "Jack gets to go to Jesus' birthday party." There was not a family event that Jack and Emmie Ruth (his wife) weren't a part of. They were like having another set of grandparents to all of us Grigsby grandchildren. They were avid Alabama fans and travel to see the Tide play on many, many, many occasions. My mother can share more memories than I of Jack and Emmie Ruth as she and her brothers and sisters were growing up.
My memory of Jack is that he was a sweet man that adored us kids and was especially attentive to my brother, Tyler who has spina bifida. You see, I believe that Jack had a special place for disabled children because of his service as a Shriner. That was just the kind of man he was - always full of love for my family and my grandparents.
On one occasion, I remember Jack and Emmie Ruth taking me to eat at Hamburger Heaven over in Irondale which included hamburger, fries, and a milkshake (probably chocolate :) ). Another memory I have was when my cousin Rob was young he would go around the house saying, "Let me look at your teeths." Well, he said it to Jack one day and Jack actually took his teeth out of his mouth...I don't know if Rob ever asked to see his teeth again. There are many, many more memories of him that I could share and many other could share but the one thing I know is if we do choose to name our son Jack, I want him to know how special his namesake was to our family.
So, for those of you wondering about names, we have tossed around several but as time grows near things could change but at the moment these are some of the ideas we have so far and all I have connection to family in some way: Jackson Ray, Jackson David, Jackson Bennett...and that is where the list stops for now. Those are the three that I can't get out of my mind.

Back to Work!
Well, I have been on Spring Break vacation this week. I went home and spent some time with family and then went to the lake for several days with some friends - also known as "My Peeps"! I had an awesome time and soon I will be returning to work. I have been away from my computer for almost a week. I guess you can say that I took Spring Break not only from work but from my computer. I hope to have some additional things posted in the next several days. So, please check back!

A Welcome Note from the Children in Zacapa
This is a little "Welcome" note that one of the children at the mission church in Zacapa gave me on the Sunday morning we arrived for their church service. They gave each member of the team one similar to the one shown below. On a funny note, it took several minutes for some of our team members to figure out what it says. I think they thought it was in Spanish.

A couple of things that I learned today from Bro. David's sermon.
Living By Faith: What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. (Hebrews 11:1)
"When hemmed in on all sides, the only place to look is up." Our country is looking around for answers instead of looking up. We have a choice to make. Will you choose to look up? Remember that God will make a way when there is no way. God will also move heaven and earth to keep His promises.

Guatemala Mission Trip
February 21-27
Family and Friends:
First, and foremost, thank you for your support and prayers for our mission trip and team members! Each of our amazing experiences, the impact made on the lives of the people in and around Zacapa, Guatemala, and the numerous ways in which the Lord worked in our hearts can be attributed to your generosity and obedience to commit your prayers and money to the Lord’s work.
My life (as well as others) has been forever changed through this mission experience.
While our feet are back here in the states, our hearts and prayers are still in Guatemala. Their smiles and kindness are forever etched in our memories. We ask that you continue to lift up in prayer the people and missionaries in Guatemala.
This experience would not have been possible without your amazing support through prayers and donations. I pray that God blesses you and your family for being part of this mission trip.

Our Trip:
Words really can't explain the experiences we had. God opened many doors for our team. During the week, over 60 people prayed to receive Jesus into their hearts.
On Saturday, February 21, we arrived in Guatemala City around noon where we were greeted by our missionaries, Allen and Lorelle Stoudenmire, along with our translators and drivers. We spent one night at the Arkansas House in Guatemala City.
On Sunday, February 22, we traveled from Guatemala City to Zacapa (three hour drive), where we attended the morning worship service at Shalom Baptist Mission. After the worship service, we traveled to our hotel, Hotel el Atlantico. Pastor Rorlando Cruz and members of the Shalom Baptist Mission worked with us throughout the week in the villages.
On Monday morning our mission work began. We prayer walked in the morning and began door-to-door evangelism in the afternoon in the village of Andalucia. The Lord answered our prayers with 10 people praying to receive Jesus and many other homes expressing interest in the home Bible study being held in the village.
On Tuesday morning, we were given the opportunity to share with the children at a school in the village of Conevisa. At the school, our team did two gospel presentations for students in grades 1-6. We provided five evangelism soccer balls and gave out over 200 witnessing bracelets. Approximately 35 students and teachers prayed to receive Jesus. Before leaving the school, God opened a huge door for our team. The superintendent of the school requested that our team return on Wednesday morning to share with over 200 teachers from area schools that would be at the school attending a meeting. After working in the school, we went out into the village of Conevisa to encourage believers and share the gospel with unbelievers. At the end of the day, 10 additional people had prayed to receive Jesus.
On Wednesday morning, we returned to the school in Conevisa to share with the teachers. Several ladies shared their testimonies and the gospel message was presented to the group. God gave us the opportunity to plant seeds and we have no way of knowing what He has planned in the lives of this group of people. We have committed to pray that God will send someone to come behind us and harvest the seeds that were planted. What an opportunity! After sharing with the teachers we returned to the village for door-to-door evangelism. At the end of the day, 9 people had prayed to receive Jesus and many others were encourage to attend a home Bible study in the village.
On Thursday morning, our mission team led a praise and worship service at Shalom Baptist Mission. We sang songs and prayed together. Our favorite song of the week was “Alleluia”. The word alleluia is a word that has the same meaning and pronunciation in both English and Spanish. After singing, several members of our team, as well as members from the mission shared testimonies about the week. Following the service, we said good-bye and returned to the missionary house, the Arkansas House, in Guatemala City.
On Friday morning we departed for the airport from the Arkansas House. We hope to return to this area next year to build a church in Conevisa and continue sharing the gospel.
The Great Commission – Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you, always, even to the end of the age.”
